Published Mon 23 Mar 2026
The 2026 NSW GC Women's Open Singles was held at Mackey Park, Tempe, 20-22 March.
27 entrants played in blocks of (mostly) 7, with the top two players of each going into the X knockout, the next two into the Y knockout, and the rest in the Plate blocks and finals.
The X knockout final Best-of-3 match was a contest between Alison Sharpe and Mary McMahon, with many hard-fought hoops, with Alison eventually winning in two games, 7-6, 7-4.
🥇 Alison Sharpe (Mosman NSW)
🥈 Mary McMahon (Southport QLD)
3rd place went to Karen Bisley, who won over 4th placegetter Sue Sellers in two very close games, 6-5, 7-6.
Many thanks go to:
📯 Tournament Manager David Stanton, and those who assisted him, with tracking the games and knockout rounds.
📯 All the referees who gave their time across the 3 days, overseeing 4 busy courts.
📯 Cooks River Croquet Club grounds crew and helpers, for presenting such fine competition lawns to play on.
📯 All competitors, who came from clubs throughout NSW/ACT, and from as far as QLD, VIC and WA.
