Advantage GC Target Scores

These presentation notes explain how to use the charts and tables that form the documentation of the system.

The process of implementing GC Advantage Target Scores is also outlined in the steps below.

Use this table to determine Target Hoops required by each player depending on their handicap:

• TARGET SCORES TABLE - Hoop Ratios required by Stronger/Weaker player.

  Refer to pages 14-17 for Doubles team ratios.

DOUBLES TEAM ratios - A doubles game can be played by calculating the average handicap for each side (half the sum of the two handicaps) with halves rounded up. The target score for each side can then be obtained from the table of Hoop Ratios (above) using the average handicaps.
However, for average handicaps greater than 12, this rounding may give an invalid result. In such cases, either add one to odd integers (e.g. 13 becomes 14) or round non-integers (up or down) to the nearest even integer (e.g. 12.5 becomes 12).

Score sheets have been pre-prepared for the most common Target Score ratio combinations (see links under the Scoring Sheets section below). Select the appropriate scoresheet for each pairing of Singles & Doubles game participants.

• The stronger player/team is always the Player/Team [A] side of the sheet.
• Scorers are to circle hoops for each player (Player/Team [A] side or Player/Team [B] side) as they progress through the game towards their Target Hoops.

In the event of a timeout prior to reaching the Target Hoops, the progressive percentage % value assigned to each completed hoop will assist officials and players in determining the winner, or identifying a tie that requires a deciding hoop.

Information from the Scoring Percentage Table for unfinished Advantage games has been included on the score sheets, for convenience.

Upon completion of the game, and to confirm the winner(s), players or scorers are to fill in:

• Total Hoops Scored (both [A] and [B]).
• Percentage % Scored (both [A] and [B]). This will also assist the Tournament Manager with entering results (as percentages %) on Croquet Scores.

OPTION A: Recording results with PERCENTAGES

Many Tournament Managers enter results into Croquet Scores with percentage scores.
Matching the entries on a player’s Index Card with Croquet Scores enables easy cross-checking during a tournament.

OPTION B: Recording results with SCORING FRACTIONS

NOTE: This method excludes percentage scores. Since many Tournament Managers enter results to Croquet Scores with percentages, Option A may be more appropriate.
