Published Mon 24 Mar 2025
Rosie Landrebe (Cammeray) wins NSW Women's Golf Croquet Open Singles, played at Manly 21 - 23 March 2025. Congratulations Rosie!
Brenda Lee Peet (Maitland) was the runner up in a 3 game final. Janine Sisson from Mornington, Victoria was third, with Liz Montague from Killara fourth. Alison Sharpe (Mosman) won the Z contest, Aniko Osvald (Manly) won the Y, and Pauline Markwell (Royal Sydney Golf Club) the Plate.
There was strong competition through all rounds, many games being hard fought, and almost all best of three went on to three games. We had very good spectator crowd who enjoyed some great semis and finals.
Manly CC hosted the tournament the three days, providing delicious lunches, morning and afternoon teas. The veranda area and gardens afforded spectators a delightful viewing area.
The work done on lawns during the two months prior to the tournament provided really excellent lawns for the players, a very high standard.
The contest attracted a strong field of 18 players to the picturesque Manly Club, with some tight contests and good victories in the event. It augurs well for women's play in Golf Croquet. Manly Club hosted a well run event on good lawns; the event was live-streamed courtesy of Croquet NSW, and proved a popular event.
Manly was pleased to have had the State Member for Manly, James Griffin at the final to present the winner and runner up with their badges.
